My diagnosis with Gestational Diabetes has become quite the topic around here lately! Mostly because I am learning how to cope with it, but also wanting to share as I am learning, in hopes that it can help someone else. Sharing is caring, and it gives me a sense of purpose!
One thing that I have had to come to terms with is the regular finger pricking every. single. day. Different doctors seem to want things checked differently. My OB has asked me to check four times a day: fasting (when I wake up) and then 2 hours after each meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Some doctors want more, some less, and some ask for 1-hour readings instead of 2-hour readings.
Trying to be fully diet controlled and not go on medication, my biggest frustration was trying to find a way to log these that would be easy for my OB to glance at and get a big picture look at my management. I started out with a notebook, which was easy for me, but I felt like it would be harder on him. So then I took to Pinterest and while there were tons of printable logs out there, I honestly I could not find one that fit my needs for 4 times a day at the 2-hour mark.
So, I decided that the best thing to do would be to put my graphic design skills to use and whip a custom Bood sugar tracker! Since I am certain I am not the only one that faced this same issue, I have included a downloadable PDF for you!
All you need to do is click the image below and save it to your computer! Print it off, fill it out and take it with you to your appointments. My OB loved this format and I am pretty sure yours will, too! And since I didn’t include a timeframe, you can totally use this even if you are a 1-hour checker like some!
